16 injured in a bus accident, running car catches fire

BAGMATI: At least 16 persons were injured when a passenger-ferrying bus met with an accident in Manahari rural municipality-6, Sunachuri of Makawanpur along the East-West Highway this morning.

According to the District Police Office, 16 passengers were injured when the bus (Lu 2 Kha 599) en route to Bhairahawa from Itahari fell some 10 meters down the road. The injured were rescued and sent to Chitwan Hospital for treatment, office spokesperson Shyamu Aryal said.

Bus driver Rakesh Chaudhary, 29, of Kolbi Municipality-11, Bara has been arrested for investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, a vehicle registered in the Indian province caught fire at Bhimphedi rural municipality-4, Nibuwatar in Makawanpur along the Kulekhani-Bhimphedi-Kathmandu road section.

He informed that the running car en route to Hetauda from Kathmandu caught fire. Though the car was completely gutted in fire, there was no human casualty, it is informed.
