KAthmandu: A sudden blaze broke out on the set of South Indian superstar Dhanush’s highly anticipated action film ‘Idly Kadhai’, sending shockwaves through the industry. The fire, intensified by strong winds, burned for over an hour before firefighters were able to bring it under control. Fortunately, no one was harmed, as the set was unoccupied at the time of the incident. In spite of the scare, the production stays on course and hype for the film keeps pouring in.
Tamil actor Dhanush, who is a dual role specialist in ‘Idly Kadhai’, is also its director, in what is his fourth directorial outing. The shooting was taking place in Andipatti, located in Tamil Nadu’s Theni district. For this ambitious project, the crew had constructed a brand-new set, and filming had already been underway for more than 20 days. Reports say the fire broke out suddenly on this set, but there were no injuries or damage to life, thanks to the fact that no cast or crew members were present at the time.
The firefighting team worked to bring the flames under control, and after more than an hour, the fire was eventually extinguished. While the flames may have stopped production temporarily, spirits on set are good, and no delay in the release of the film has been announced.
‘Idly Kadhai’ is in the making for Wunderbar Films banner from Dhanush himself and Aakash Bhaskaran. A talented actress of Nithya Menen shares the screen opposite him, along with a less-than-star studded supporting cast, including the likes of Arun Vijay, Sathyaraj, Parthiban, Shalini Pandey, Prakash Raj, Samuthirakani, and Rajkiran. G. V. Prakash Kumar for the music of the film and it is ready to be one potent mix of action, emotions, and drama.
One of the most anticipated moments is the confrontation between Dhanush and Arun Vijay, with Arun playing the lead villain. Industry sources reveal that their confrontation will be one of the biggest highlights of the film. Meanwhile, Shalini Pandey is set to play an important role that adds further intrigue to the story.
After months of buzz and speculation, the release date was officially announced on April 4 via social media. Idly Kadhai is all set for a grand worldwide theatrical release on October 1, 2025. “The wait is over! ‘Idly Kadhai’ is coming to the big screen worldwide from October 1!” wrote Wunderbar Films in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Interestingly enough, the film was set to be released on April 10 this year. But the crew decided to postpone it, likely to provide additional time for post-production as well as strategic timing. With Dhanush balancing acting duties as the lead, directing, and producing, and such a strong support cast behind him, ‘Idly Kadhai’ is set to become one of the largest film events of the year.
With the fire incident now out of the way and the film progressing smoothly, fans can expect nothing less than a blazing blockbuster when ‘Idly Kadhai’ finally hits the theatres this October.
