PANCHTHAR: A Koshi provincial level badminton championship is to be held in Phidim of Panchthar from April 21 to 23.
The District Sports Development Committee is organizing the tournament with the objective of promoting tourism and supporting economic activities by means of sports. The championship will take place at the District Coordination Committee’s badminton hall, said Santosh Moktan, President of the DSDC.
Committee Secretary Dushyant Basnet shared that 58 players will participate in four categories, namely men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles. The winners, runners-up and third place finishers of each category will receive cash prizes along with trophies, medals and certificates.
The tournament is being organized with the objective of promoting tourism and the Province Sports Development Board is the convener of the sports event while the Phidim Municipality and other local levels of the district are the coordinators. According to the organizers, the tournament will cost Rs 1.8 million.
