KATHMANDU: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that Nepal Rastra Bank governor will be appointed as soon as possible.
Responding to questions from journalists at a press conference organized at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday, he said the statements that there has been a delay in the appointment of the governor due to disagreement between two parties is false.
A recommendation committee has been formed to make the appointment and a study is underway. He shared that the responsibility of the acting governor has been given to Deputy Governor Dr Neelam Dhungana Timsina for the time being.
The Rastra Bank has been without a governor since the end of outgoing Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari’s term on April 6.
A governor recommendation committee has been formed under the coordination of Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel. The committee will recommend three names for the post of governor and the government will choose one among the three to lead the central bank.
