KATHMANDU: Nepali actor Paul Shah, who has been active in the movie industry for more than a decade, had a tough year in 2081. Among the three movies that came out this year, Pujar Sarki was successful at the box office, but Ravayan and Mayavi did not do well and could not live up to the expectations of the audience.
Following these consecutive flops, there was growing speculation about a decline in Paul’s stardom. However, instead of being discouraged, Paul has decided to take matters into his own hands and venture into film production. On the occasion of the New Year, Paul Shah announced his debut production under his banner Paul Shah Films. The film is titled ‘Yanimaya’.
Directed by Bikash Subedi, who is also making his directorial debut, ‘Yanimaya’ will carry a social message and will be centered on a family drama. Bikash, who had previously written stories for successful films like ‘Prakash’, ‘Pujar Sarki’, and ‘Mahabhoj’, is also the writer of this movie. His signature storytelling style will also be able to hold its own in this undertaking.
Shoot of ‘Yanimaya’ is scheduled to begin in Ashar (June/July). Though lead actors’ names haven’t been made public as yet, word on the street suggests that Paul Shah himself will lead the pack.
This new venture into production is an exciting new chapter in Paul Shah’s professional life. Having suffered setbacks, his transition into producing may mean a new beginning, and the public is anticipating how this new endeavor will go for the actor.
