KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) will hold a protest in Balkhu, Kathmandu, on Tuesday, with the District Administration Office designating the area for the event.

The RPP’s program will begin at 11:30 AM with rallies from various locations converging at Balkhu, party president Rajendra Lingden and other leaders will address the crowd. The protest is expected to disrupt traffic around the Ring Road, prompting police to enforce diversions. Vehicles will be redirected through alternative routes, including Kalanki’s Khasi Bazaar, Makalu, and Kalanki Chowk towards Bafal, as well as from Balkhu Chowk via Kuleshwor, Kalimati Chowk, and Teku. Routes connecting Kirtipur, Sundarighat, Sanepa, and Ekantakuna will also face diversions.

If congestion increases, additional measures will be implemented at Tripureshwor, Balaju, Halchowk, Naikap, and Sitapaila, along with Chobhar, Pharping, Nakkhu Dobato, and Koteshwor Chowk.

Parking has been arranged along the Chobhar road south of Tribhuvan University’s gate, the Sanepa corridor, the Chobhar Dry Port, New Bus Park, and the Sitapaila–Bafal road section to accommodate vehicles arriving for the event.

In addition to the RPP protest, teachers will demonstrate in the Maitighar–Baneshwor area, while victims of microfinance and cooperative disputes will rally at Shanti Batika. Both demonstrations are expected to further impact traffic, and authorities have advised commuters to use alternative routes to avoid delays.
